Whether you have experience or are just starting out with photography, there are some tips and tricks that will help you get better results. Outlined below are some common issues that you may have to deal with and some tips on how you can use and benefit from them.

#1-Remember to Compose in Thirds

This is a very effective rule that will let you capture some amazing images. To use this rule of thirds, you’ll need to imagine four lines, two running horizontally and two vertically in such a way that the frame creates nine equal squares.

No doubt, some images will look great with the focal point in the centre square, but if you place the subject off centre, more often than not, it will create a more aesthetically composed photograph! When this rule is used to compose a photograph, your eyes will automatically wander the frame and create more interesting and pleasing photos.

#2-Avoid Blurry Photos

For photographers who are just starting out, they will notice that their photos are not as sharp as they’d like them to be. Shaking of the camera leads to blurry photographs. So to avoid such blurry photos, keep the following things in mind:

  • The very first thing that you need to do is learn to hold the camera properly. Use both hands, one to hold the body and the other to hold the lens.
  • The camera needs to be held close to your body for proper support.
  • Another thing that you need to take care of is your lens focal length and shutter speed need to be same. For instance, if you’re using 100mm lens, your shutter speed needs to be 1/100th of a second.
  • You can also use tripod or a monopod to hold the camera in place. Other alternatives are support of a tree or a wall to ensure the camera doesn’t shake.

#3-Make Use of a Polarizing Filter

If you’re planning to buy just one filter for your lens, then it should be a polarizer. This filter is great in reducing reflections from glass, metal as well as water, enhancing the colour of the foliage and the sky. What’s more is that this filter will also be able to protect your lens. In fact, you can leave the lens on for all your photography shoots.

#4-Creating Depths in Photos

Creating a sense of depth in landscape photos makes the viewers feel like they are there. You can do that by following the tips below.

  • Preferable use a wide-angle lens for a nice panoramic view.
  • The aperture needs to be f/16 or even smaller to keep both the background and the foreground sharp.
  • Another great trick is to place an object or person in the foreground. This helps in giving a sense of scale and emphasises on how far away the distance is.
  • If possible, use a tripod because smaller aperture usually needs a slower shutter speed.
